À seulement dix minutes de chez moi, nous avons la chance d’avoir un très beau parcours de golf : le Golf de Boisgelin. Niché au cœur d’un magnifique domaine breton autour d’un élégant manoir, le parcours serpente entre étangs, arbres centenaires et paysages verdoyants. Même pour quelqu’un comme moi qui ne joue pas au golf, c’est un endroit que j’aime beaucoup tant le cadre est paisible et agréable.
Only ten minutes from my home, we are fortunate to have a beautiful golf course: the Boisgelin Golf Course. Nestled in the heart of a magnificent Breton estate surrounding an elegant manor house, the course winds its way between ponds, centuries-old trees, and green countryside. Even for someone like me who does not play golf, it is a place I truly enjoy because the setting is so peaceful and pleasant.
Mon étudiant Jeff étant un passionné de golf, je lui ai réservé un parcours de 18 trous avec mon compagnon Jean-Loup, qui joue lui-même assez bien. Il est possible de louer tout l’équipement sur place, ce qui est très pratique lorsqu’on voyage. La météo était exceptionnelle ce jour-là et les deux compères sont partis de bon matin profiter du soleil breton.
As my student Jeff is passionate about golf, I booked an 18-hole round for him with my companion Jean-Loup, who is quite a good golfer himself. It is possible to rent all the equipment on site, which is very convenient when travelling. The weather was exceptional that day, and the two of them headed off early in the morning to enjoy the Breton sunshine.
Jeff et Jean-Loup ont passé toute la matinée à parcourir le terrain, à commenter leurs coups, à échanger des conseils et à bavarder... en français bien sûr ! C’est exactement le genre d’activité que j’aime proposer pendant les immersions : pratiquer le français dans une situation réelle, détendue et amusante, sans même avoir l’impression d’étudier.
Jeff and Jean-Loup spent the entire morning making their way around the course, commenting on their shots, exchanging tips, and chatting... in French, of course! It is exactly the kind of activity I enjoy offering during immersion stays: practising French in a real-life situation that is relaxed and fun, without even feeling like you are studying.
Je les ai rejoints pour le déjeuner au club-house, et nous avons passé un excellent moment. Le domaine de Boisgelin abrite également le restaurant gastronomique du chef Mathieu Kergourlay, bien connu dans la région. La carte du club-house s’inspire de sa cuisine et met à l’honneur de très bons produits locaux. Entre le cadre magnifique, la bonne humeur et l’excellent repas, cette journée a été une vraie réussite.
I joined them for lunch at the clubhouse, and we had a wonderful time. The Boisgelin estate is also home to the gourmet restaurant of chef Mathieu Kergourlay, who is well known in the region. The clubhouse menu is inspired by his cuisine and highlights excellent local products. Between the beautiful setting, the good humour, and the delicious meal, it was a truly successful day.

If you also enjoy golf, or if your partner would like to play a few rounds during your stay, it is entirely possible to add some golf to your immersion programme. It is a wonderful way to combine a favourite hobby, relaxation, and French practice in the heart of Brittany!
