I know it sounds unhinged to be nostalgic for literally two years ago, but the Pop Girl Summer of 2024 was simply unmatched. 🤌 Sabrina Carpenter altered our brain chemistry with “Espresso,” Chappell Roan wasn’t yelling at children yet (this is 100% a joke, we love you, Chappell!), and Charli xcx blessed us with a Brat Summer we’ll never forget. 💚 |
Which is precisely why we’re so desperate for another Pop Girl Summer, and based on recent album announcements from heavy hitters like Ariana Grande and Olivia Rodrigo, we think summer 2026 could be ripe for one. |

💜 You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love by Olivia Rodrigo, June 12: According to Rodrigo, "I started writing this album at a time in my life where I was experiencing real romantic love for the first time," and many are speculating that the album will detail her relationship and ultimate breakup with English actor Louis Partridge. Tea! |
🪩 Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II by Madonna, July 3: Madonna’s upcoming album is a sequel to her critically acclaimed 2005 dance record “Confessions on a Dance Floor” (honestly, “Hung Up” still slaps), and as she wrote in her manifesto for the album, “We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies.” If anyone can get us dancing again, it’s Madonna. |
❤️🔥 Daughter From Hell by Gracie Abrams, July 17: Co-produced and co-written with Aaron Dessner of The National (you might remember his work with Taylor Swift on folklore and evermore), we have a feeling this is the kind of album you’ll want to scream-sing along to in your car all summer long. According to Dessner, “You’ll hear us expanding our musical vocabulary and pushing into uncharted waters sonically.” |
🌸 Petal by Ariana Grande, July 21: Glinda’s (oops, we meant Ariana’s) eighth studio album promises to be “a little feral,” according to the artist herself. “It’s definitely from a place where I have been maybe too shy or polite to tap into before. This kind of just feels like, fuck it,” she said in her Instagram video announcing the album. Don’t mind if we do! |
🍳 Stove by Lana Del Rey, TBD: There’s still no proper release date for this one (the date has been pushed back and the name has been changed multiple times 🤪), but Lana’s 10th studio album is very much in the works. According to Rolling Stone, it’s produced by Jack Antonoff and set to be her first foray into country music. Oh, and the album’s first single, “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter," was co-written with her husband, Jeremy Dufrene (yeah, the alligator guy 🐊). Curiouser and curiouser! |
👀 Rumored releases: While nothing is confirmed yet, there are online rumblings about new music from Beyoncé, Chappell Roan, Dua Lipa, and Doechii all in the works. Please, we’re begging!! 🙏 |
