Hi there,

“Wardrobe staple” is definitely an overused phrase in fashion today, but, hear us out, the white shirt is still entirely deserving of the term. It’s just so classic. Just ask Sabrina Carpenter who tied hers in the Manchild video, Zoe Kravitz and her draped number on the red carpet, or the late Diane Keaton whose outfit in Annie Hall remains on many a moodboard nearly 50 years later.

Not all shirts are created equal, of course: some of them, produced by the likes of SHEIN and other low-rated fast fashion brands, are poor quality, often made with cheap synthetic fabrics, and at the expense of the people, planet, and animals in the process. That’s why today we’re sharing a list of brands you can count on for more ethically made white shirts you can keep in your wardrobe for years to come. Star this email in your inbox, bookmark the full guide, and come back to it when you need to invest.

In this week’s issue:
  • Where to find more sustainable white shirts at a variety of price points
  • Offers on patterned fashion from more ethical brands: If you love a print, don’t miss this
There are plenty of white shirts on the market, but beware of the brands that are churning them out with poor quality synthetic fabrics that aren’t breathable, and in the process exploiting workers and suppliers by driving down purchasing prices and not paying living wages to those who make every shirt. Instead, look for brands that have committed to doing better by people, the planet, and animals in their actions, like the ones in this list that’ve all been rated “Good” or “Great". The round-up features a variety of price points, materials, and levels of formality, so click through to see the full list, and check out four highlights here.

Brands featured: Jiwya, SeamsFriendly, The Summer House, Oobi, Aster and Oak, Lefrik, and Do Good Surf Club.

Those who love patterns and prints will want to check out this week’s Offers round-up, which includes ready-to-wear, swim, and kids brands all making cool patterned items. Jiwya’s striped unisex jacket seen here, for example, is hand-printed with generational wooden blocks and takes around 140 hours to make, while The Summer House’s short dress is detailed with zodiac illustrations, and SeamsFriendly’s lightly striped co-ord can also be worn as a jumpsuit.
