This week, Sara Wilkinson and Jason McCarthy had an open and honest conversation with retired Navy SEAL, Jocko Willink, in episode 296 of his podcast: “When You're There, You're There. When You're Home, You're Home. With Sara Wilkinson and Jason McCarthy”. They took a look back on Chad Wilkinson’s life and accomplishments, while bringing awareness to the important topic of suicide and mental health among active duty military, and veterans.
Sara’s husband, Chad Wilkinson, served honorably in combat as a SEAL, but lost the war against PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Astroglial Scarring, and took his life by suicide in 2018. This is what then became the birth and inspiration for the Chad 1000X workout.
Chad 1000X is inspired by the training that he did for a mountain climb in South America where he did 1,000 step-ups for time with a weighted ruck. Chad left a legacy of strength, and GORUCK plans to honor him every year. Our goal is to honor Chad's life and legacy and by raising awareness for suicide prevention. We are dedicated to Chad Wilkinson. This year, join us again in paying respect to Chad Wilkinson and all those who have been lost to suicide, while also committing to try to change the number.
