Here’s how that works.
Think of our Scars Workshop in Jacksonville Beach, Florida as the epicenter of all things quality control related at GORUCK. Starting with any new gear ideas, R&D is fully integrated with Scars, and nobody wants to design something that they’ll have to fix or replace later — that’s horrible for business. Our Scars manager is also our manufacturing quality control manager, which means he’s responsible at scale for making sure we build it right the first time. His job at Scars depends on it.
The GORUCK Challenge remains deeply integrated into our Scars quality control process. We send new gear, apparel, and footwear through Challenge after Challenge before we ever release it. Our Scars team does damage assessments on prototypes, tests everything out for themselves (you’ll see them ‘modeling’ our stuff all over the website), and when it’s tough enough and works just right, then we manufacture it to those performance standards and offer it for sale, to you.
Scars on its own, integrated into our manufacturing world, would be a powerful source of quality controls — together with the GORUCK Challenge and the 1,000+ events a year all over the world that our Special Forces Cadre lead, it’s unrivaled. There are no gaps in the feedback loops because Scars is the epicenter and you can always find us.

Back home in Jax Beach, our team hears the drum beat of sewing machines all day, and Scars work happens twenty feet from my desk. If you ever pop in, we’ll show ya around and buy ya a beer.
