Today, the British Museum formally opens its landmark exhibition dedicated to the Bayeux Tapestry.

One of the world's most important cultural artefacts, the Bayeux Tapestry returns to England for the first time since it was made almost 1,000 years ago. The extraordinary 70-metre-long embroidery tells the story of the Norman Conquest and the events that culminated in the Battle of Hastings in 1066.

To mark this historic occasion, HALCYON DAYS is proud to have created a bespoke commemorative enamel box exclusively for the British Museum.

Handcrafted by skilled artisans at our factory in the historic heartland of English enamelling, each enamel box preserves generations of traditional craftsmanship and expertise. The design captures some of the Bayeux Tapestry's most recognisable imagery.

The lid recreates a dramatic scene of Norman cavalry charging into battle against the English forces at Hastings. The box then opens to reveal one of the Tapestry’s most famous scenes, traditionally believed to depict King Harold Godwinson struck in the eye by an arrow during the battle.

Celebrating nearly 1,000 years of history, artistry and storytelling, the enamel box is available exclusively from the British Museum Shop.
