Wayne Dyer Was Right About This

I love getting things done, but I often struggle to get them started in the first place.

Dear Friend,

Wayne Dyer used to always say getting older isn’t for the weak. And to be honest, I really didn’t know what he was talking about until recently.

The first time I felt the reality of aging was in my late twenties, when I’d look around a bar or nightclub and notice everyone was younger than me. At that time, I was still the youngest person in every meeting at work.

Even when I hit those milestone birthdays ending in zero, like 30 and 40, I didn’t feel old; I was just becoming more aware of the passage of time.

By the time I turned 50, I started to feel that maybe I wasn’t as young as I once was, especially since I realized I likely had more years behind me than ahead. Still, life felt fine, and I was learning to embrace the changes that come with aging.

When Wayne passed away nearly eleven years ago at 75, I was 53. His passing made me realize that I might only have 20 years left, and I decided to make the most of them. Being around Louise Hay, who was full of energy even in her late 80s, inspired me to think about living a long and vibrant life.

Now I’m approaching 64. I recently got a senior discount at the bagel store without even asking for it, and more people are also asking if I'm retired when I play golf on Friday mornings. (At Hay House, most of us work Monday through Thursday and have Fridays off.)

I've noticed a few more aches and pains than before, and it takes a bit longer to recover from minor injuries.

This all brings Wayne’s comments about aging to mind.

Despite these changes, I feel fortunate. When I go to the doctor, he still tells me I'm in the top 5% of his patients for good health, and that’s with zero medications. I guess that morning green juice helps, just like Kris Carr and Louise Hay taught me.

The biggest thing I notice is how quickly a year flies by—it feels like just a few weeks. While some days can drag on, the years certainly don't.

As time speeds by, I'm trying to enjoy every moment more, focusing on what I really want to do instead of what I'm expected to do. I’m sure many of you can relate to that. You'd think I’d have figured it all out by now.

This week, have some fun doing things that you truly want to do 😊.

Wishing You the Best,
Reid Tracy
