Restaurants are hard. Hospitality is hard. Building a business is hard. You’re moving a million miles an hour, solving problems nobody else sees, taking care of your team, your guests, your vendors, your customers… and then waking up and doing it again tomorrow.
Cook Camp was a chance to put a little bit of that energy back into the people who give so much of themselves to this industry.
And maybe give everyone permission to clock out for five seconds and have some freaking fun.
Days like this are such a good reminder that taking care
of people can look like a million different things. A meal.
An introduction. Giving someone a shot. Celebrating your
team after a brutal week. Making time to teach the new person. Or sometimes, apparently, getting 200 food people together
for summer camp.
It doesn’t have to be huge to matter.
