Dear Parents & Gift-Givers,
You may have recently seen the news about the recall of the ANKO Chick Silicone Teether here in Australia. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can read the official recall notice here:

As parents ourselves, recalls like this honestly hit close to home.
When babies are teething, they chew on things constantly — and as parents, we naturally trust that products made for little ones have already been carefully designed and tested to be safe.
That’s why recalls like this can feel unsettling.
In this case, the concern was that small silicone parts could separate from the teether and potentially become a choking hazard. It’s also a reminder that when it comes to baby products, “cute” design should never come before safety and durability.
At Hello Charlie, we’ve always tried to be extremely careful about the products we choose to stock — especially products designed to go directly into little mouths.
Our product selection standards focus heavily on:
• Trusted materials and transparent manufacturing
• Australian and international safety compliance
• Durability during real everyday use
• Simple, thoughtfully designed products without unnecessary weak points
This is also why we’re cautious about overly complicated teether designs with lots of attached decorations, glued details, unclear coatings, or heavily painted surfaces.
For products babies chew on, we generally prefer:
• Simple one-piece constructions
• Natural rubber or high-quality food-grade silicone
• Water-based inks and food-safe pigments where decoration is used
