Driving through Dallas you could easily miss this spot, but I’ll tell you now it would be unfortunate. Cris & John Viet-Mex Kitchen is known and loved for their mouthwatering ability to blend Vietnamese and Mexican flavors in creative and unexpected ways. Cristina Mendez and John Pham have built a strong local following with dishes that combine elements of both of their culinary traditions and a menu with inventive dishes like the Phorrito (a burrito inspired by the flavors of traditional pho) or the Carne Asada Banh Mi. Using fresh ingredients and a wide variety of options including vegetarian, halal, and gluten-free, their originality has earned them recognition and a well-deserved reputation.

I had to do a double-take the first time I saw the art created by James Cook. His highly detailed work uses vintage typewriters rather than traditional drawing tools, with images built from thousands of letters, numbers, and symbols that are carefully layered to create shading, texture, and depth. Many of his pieces feature famous landmarks, portraits and scenes you’ll recognize, demonstrating his precision and creativity. He also often slips in hidden words and subtle details in his compositions, encouraging us to look closely at the finished work and see what might be concealed there. His distinct style is a show of patience and mastery while reimagining what a typewriter is capable of.

Back in 2025, the album Snocaps was released as a collaborative project led by twin sisters Katie (Waxahatchee) and Allison Crutchfield. After years on separate musical paths they've come together in this jangly indie rock, country-tinged record. Their lyrics explore family relationships, self-reflection, and the complicated ways we care for one another. It's hard to ignore how beautifully their songwriting styles complement each other, creating songs that are introspective, emotional and uplifting all at once. This is one for fans of Neko Case, Rilo Kiley, and Whitney, so add it to the rotation if those are artists you find yourself playing on repeat.

I found Cove when I was on the hunt for an alternative to traditional soda. I wanted the classic flavors without the sugar and with more natural ingredients, and I found it in these with the added benefit of probiotics. The brand was created by two brothers who wanted to make soda that could be an everyday beverage rather than a guilty indulgence, so they combined nostalgic flavors with a modern approach to wellness. With zero sugar and a strong focus on better ingredients, it’s a fizzy and satisfying option for anyone trying to cut back on sugar without sacrificing taste.

I’ve heard of hygge before when it comes to a lifestyle of comfort and coziness, so when I saw the name of this Scandinavian game company I was curious how it applied here. They create card and party games that bring people together through conversation, laughter, and shared experiences, focusing on activities that pair well with family gatherings, cozy dinners, parties at home, and game nights with good friends. Who in the Room? challenges players to decide who in the group best matches humorous and revealing scenarios, while I Should Have Known That! turns everyday knowledge into an entertainment by asking questions people feel they ought to know the answers to, and What Have You Done? has players telling stories about unexpected moments and memories in their lives. That’s just to name a few of the games they offer. No matter which set you order, they all encourage fun, interaction, and creating memorable moments rather than anything with complicated rules or intense competition.
