Opening today, Collection in Focus | Zidane, a 21st century portrait offers visitors an opportunity to experience the artistry of one of soccer’s most iconic players alongside the collective joy of the World Cup.
Zidane, a 21st century portrait (2006), a two-channel video projection by Douglas Gordon and Philippe Parreno follows celebrated athlete Zinedine Zidane in real time over the course of a single match, at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid. Assembled from footage shot by seventeen synchronized cameras, the film captures Zidane from multiple vantage points, both up close and at a distance.
The ninety-minute video will be screened on a continuous loop during museum hours in the Guggenheim’s Peter B. Lewis Theater.

Grab a drink and a bite to eat at Frank’s Pub, inside the Guggenheim’s Wright restaurant and settle in for a livestreamed World Cup match in one of New York’s most iconic spaces on the afternoons of Friday, June 12, 19, 26, and July 3 and 10.
