Hey there dabblers,
(This email contains affiliate links.)
Welcome to the Weekly Money Mashup where I send roundup information from the week, my favorite recent personal finance content, tools and resources to help you, news that affects you, giveaways (if any are going on) and more!
I am still drained. I need to do a better job of managing myself, workload, and basically everything because stuff that wouldn't have drained me so much before are taking the life out of me.
Anyway, I am working on it.
How have you been doing lately? Reply to this email with how you are because I actually want to know!
And for the giveaways because we could all use more freebies...
Here are current giveaways happening from some friends:
Now on to the more important stuff (and weekly stuff).
Still waiting on a stimulus check? If you are still waiting on yours, you can no longer enter your banking info on the IRS website as the deadline for that was May 13th but you could still get yours physically mailed to you.
This page should be able to answer any questions you have in regards to that.
Also, your payment could be getting delayed due to tax issues. This article has some great info on that.
Let me know if this was helpful to you.
One of my favorite posts from the #personalfinance community lately:
My friend Athena has recently released her 2nd season of Money Smart Latina and has some great tips in her most recent episode to help you with filing for unemployment. Over 37 million Americans have filed for unemployment already.
I REALLY HOPE you are not one of those Americans, but this is the sad new reality we live in and I want to be here to help you in any way I can. If there are specific things you need to help you through your specific unemployment situation or borderline unemployment or whatever else you are struggling with right now, please reply and give me your suggestions.
As a Latina myself, I am beyond fortunate to still have my job *knocks on wood*. But I know that isn't the case for everyone so please send me the stuff you'd like to see in this email that would best help you.
I know some of you may be immigrants so I also want to link to think article with specific resources for immigrants during covid-19.
An important news article I really enjoyed reading and sheds light on what is happening right now, especially to essential workers:
Companies are giving essential workers bullshit rewards: A really sad and frustrating look at how companies are giving you these weird incentives to come to work when they aren't the incentives you need for your basic safety. Stay informed to this sort of behavior from companies and make it obvious to those that they might be fooling, give them feedback that these are NOT what you need nor asked for, talk to HR, talk to your fellow workers and managers and constantly advocate for yourself and the things you need to safely do your job.
I even recommend reaching out to outlets like Vox who did this story and let them know what companies aren't doing their part correctly. When stuff hits the fan enough to go to press, companies have no choice but to respond. If you need help in finding how and who to reach out to in regards to press outlets, let me know by responding to this email and I will be more than happy to help you find some journalists (Twitter is the secret sauce here).
