First things first, we would like to let you all know that opening has been pushed back to next Spring -- at the latest. This is our conservative estimate based on how current logistics are looking.
A couple of main factors contributing to the delay currently are:
1) Supply Chain Disruptions!
As you may all already know, we hired a third-party manufacturer abroad to fabricate the glass pyramids for us. Although we ordered the units months ago, production is complete, and they are scheduled to ship in the next couple of days -- we are currently at the mercy of the unforseen supply chain disruptions. What exactly really is the supply chain? It's complex and a lot to take apart in one post. The bottom line is, we are affected much like everyone else in America and in our case, the backup at the ports is an issue, along with a shortage of freight drivers. If you're interested in the supply chain disruption happening worldwide right now, a quick Google search will yield plenty of good info.
2) Winter Is Coming... Ok, It's Here
Northern Arizona is unlike the rest of the state, with its higher elevation not only is it cooler in temperature year-round, it also means winter weather here can be quite harsh. With winter comes the cold, snow (occasional snow storms), hail, high winds, etc. All of this basically means that construction gets tricky -- what you can do becomes limited (for example, pouring cement in the cold is not really the best) and weather conditions are also not ideal for workers. What this all really means is, we are running a little behind on the infrastructure because of supply chain issues and inclement weather.
