One in four Israelis picking up a food package this month didn't need one before the war.

They had jobs. They paid their bills on time. Then a husband spent months in reserve duty, a business in the north shut its doors while the sirens sounded, or prices climbed while the paycheck stayed exactly where it was.

More than a million children in Israel don't have reliable access to food.
They are part of over 867,000 families that can't count on the next meal.

Because a war ends on television long before it ends in a kitchen.

There's a line in Deuteronomy that reads like it was written this year. God tells us not to harden our hearts or shut our hands against a brother in need (Deuteronomy 15:7). The Hebrew names both halves of what happens when we look away. The heart closes first. The hand follows.

Israeli families are short on food, safety, and the strength to keep going.
