I've walked through Modiin Central Station more times than I can count. From taking my kids on adventures to Jerusalem (by train), to commuting to work. Like every train station, it's a place of constant motion. Commuters rushing to work, soldiers heading back to base, families beginning vacations, students returning to school. Thousands of people pass through on a regular basis, each one focused on getting somewhere else. That is why I was so moved to learn that Israel Railways has opened its first-ever station synagogue there, dedicated in memory of Noa Marciano. Noa was a 19 year old resident of Modiin, serving as a lookout soldier at the Nahal Oz outpost when she was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7. More than a month later, Israel learned that she had been murdered in captivity. Now, in the very heart of one of Israel's busiest transportation hubs, her memory has found a permanent home.
