I didn't try to stop him.

When my son told me he was going to Israel to enlist in the IDF, I didn't argue. I didn't beg him to stay. I knew, the moment he said it, that nothing I said would change his mind. October 7 did something to him that I couldn't undo with words.

So I helped him pack. I drove him to the airport. And when he walked through those gates, I stood there thinking one thing: He will be all alone.

No family. No one to call if something goes wrong. No one to make sure he has a warm home and a hot meal on Shabbat.

For months, that thought kept me up at night.
He fought in Lebanon. Two weeks in the field, no contact, no news. God kept him safe through his deployment.
