Eli believed it too. And then October 7 happened. At 21, he left New Jersey, picked up a rifle, and enlisted in the IDF as a lone soldier. When he arrived in Israel, no one waited. No home after a week at the front. No mother to cook for him on Friday night. No father to call when the weight got too heavy.

Then he found Beit Daniel. A home in Israel built for lone soldiers like him. A room. Hot meals. A rabbi who already knew his name. For the first time since leaving New Jersey, he had somewhere to come back to.

But many soldiers like Eli, young men from around the world who leave their homes to defend Israel, don't have that yet. They give everything for this land and come back to nothing.
