They come home from war. No one was waiting for them.

I grew up in New York. Joining the IDF was never part of the plan.

Then I came to Israel to study. Eight days in, a terrorist stabbed me in the Old City of Jerusalem. Something changed in me. I started making packages for IDF units up north and down south and learning more about the army.
I realized every Jew is supposed to give to their country. So I did.

I enlisted in the IDF. I fought in Lebanon as a drone pilot. Two weeks in the field without changing my clothes, eating cans of tuna and chickpeas. You change.

I have no parents here. But Beit Daniel does not let you feel it. The fridge was full. Cookies on the table. A gorgeous, comfy room, always stocked. After two weeks in the field, I walked through that door and thought: people gave us this.

Beit Daniel is a home built specifically for lone soldiers like me. Here, I'm never alone. These guys are my brothers. We ate together, slept together, fought together.

I found my home.
Every soldier who comes after me deserves one too. That only happens because of people like you."
