Dear all,

May is the month when it feels like flowers have opened a fashion magazine and decided: “ok, today we dress the world.” Colors are no longer only in the petals, they move into clothes, into details, into the quick choices you make in the morning. Pink from flowers becomes a light t-shirt, yellow turns into energy you wear, lilac looks like an idea that worked on the first try.

It’s as if nature doesn’t just bloom: it designs outfits.

Meanwhile, the days get longer, slowly but surely, as if someone keeps stretching time a little more every evening. The light stays out longer, and suddenly “it’s still early” becomes “ok, we can stay outside a bit more.”

May is a month that pulls you out of the house, messes up your life a little, and makes you smile.

FLASH NEWS! The Atelier in Westhampton Beach is already open, letting you start feeling the coming summer: the season is about to truly begin, and we look forward to welcoming you on May 28 for the Memorial Day weekend!

FIRENZE

Are you there yet? May brings its warmth and enticing new exhibitions that are well worth enjoying between walks in the glorious sunshine!

It's a month for nature and picnics, and I definitely want to make a trip out to Villa La Quiete in the Castello area for the glorious gardens that are only open to the public for a short time each year.

Until July 12, it's freely visitable on Saturdays and Sundays and the perfect chance to learn about the nearly 300-year-old garden that's a rare surviving example of 18th-century Medici design, created at the behest of Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici (the last descendant of the Florentine dynasty) between 1724 and 1727.

A fun way to combine both culture and nature are the Medieval Days set to take place on May 16 and 17 in the garden of the Stibbert Museum. I love heading to the gardens of the 19th-century house-museum created by Frederick Stibbert (1838-1906) any day, but there's even more reason to visit on the occasion when it's transformed into a medieval village! To mark the 500th anniversary of Giovanni delle Bande Nere's death (a military leader known for leading the Black

Bands), there will be jesters, music, crafts and more bringing the Middle Ages back for one weekend only.

An intriguing new site-specific installation has arrived in the courtyard of Palazzo Strozzi, on show until August 2. Tall pink columns fill a pool of water, with cracks and crevices fitting for marine life. The Danish SUPERFLEX collective are behind the work titled There Are Other Fish In The Sea, presenting us with a vision of what life might look like it fish occupied the spaces we now fill.

Head up to Villa Bardini to view over 150 photographs from the Foto Locchi archive that reveal life in Florence in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. It's a fascinating portrait of the era when youth protests, the devastating flood of 1966, and a period of glamour contrasted with urban and cultural complexity, expertly revealed in shots by the top-level photographers that made up the agency.

In the kitchen, a fun and flavorful dish is Crespelle alla Fiorentina, a typically Florentine savory pancake filled with ricotta and spinach before being rolled, covered with béchamel sauce, topped with tomato sauce (passata di Pomodoro) and breadcrumbs then baked. Buonissimo! The thin crêpes are said to have originated in the 16th century with the arrival of Catherine de' Medici in France, when the tricks of Italian cuisine were incorporated into Parisian dining.

On the note of good food, make sure to check out the La Fierucola markets! Fresh local produce can be found in piazza del Carmine on May 10, before moving to piazza Santo Spirito on May 17. There's a lovely atmosphere as you listen to the chatter and savor the scents of the organic produce, and there's often crafts to admire also!

PALM BEACH...

Palm Beach in May feels like a place that has decided to live with the sun on its face all day, without ever really rushing to change its pace, the atmosphere is full of late spring: it’s the month to enjoy the sea, palm trees, and bright streets, with a constant feeling of slow but full time.

I know you area all ready to leave and yet someone stay behind and enjoy the quieter pace in May.

Fashion fits this mood perfectly: soft fabrics, light colors, natural details, a style that doesn’t try to impress, but to accompany the day.

On weekends, farmers’ markets bring a different energy: fresh flowers, local products, street music, and slow walks among colors and smells. It’s not just shopping, it’s a way of living the morning.

In May, everything here feels light but well put together: the weather, the style, the days. And the best thing is that you don’t need to look for the right atmosphere, it’s already everywhere.

Have a great May! With love,

Jennifer
