Dear all,
there is an unwritten rule in Westhampton: no one looks at the clock when the sky begins to turn Blu Baltico.
Even those who say, “just five more minutes,” always end up staying a little longer. Maybe that is the true beauty of summer: it reminds us that some moments are meant to last a little longer. After all, arriving a few minutes late with the right look is always a matter of style.
From Florence to Palm Beach, and now to the East Coast, every summer becomes another chapter in our story.
A story shaped by places, encounters, and little rituals that return each year with the same magic, always bringing something new.
The color of this season has a name: Blu Baltico.
A deep, elegant color that captures the evening light and holds onto its magic just a little longer.
For centuries, blue has been one of the most treasured colors in art, fashion, and luxury. Once rarer than gold, it symbolized prestige, refinement, and exceptional craftsmanship.
From the precious ultramarine created from lapis lazuli to the rich fabrics worn by royalty, blue has always represented timeless beauty and quiet sophistication.
Blu Baltico carries that same legacy into the present. It is a shade that speaks of confidence, serenity, and effortless elegance, balancing tradition with a contemporary spirit.
Like every place we visit, it becomes part of the same journey, connecting familiar faces with those discovering us for the very first time. Maybe that is because things made with heart never need an introduction - they simply make you feel at home.
And for us, that has always been the true meaning of craftsmanship: creating beauty to be shared, through timeless pieces and unforgettable summer moments.
So let's keep enjoying my Blu Baltico, the golden evening light, and that unmistakable summer feeling that, luckily, is not ready to say goodbye just yet.

FIRENZE
There’s a lovely slow pace to August in Florence as many locals take their holidays and enjoy the time spent with family and friends.
The city, of course, ensures there’s still plenty to keep us entertained with outdoor cinema screenings and summer spaces along the Arno, gathering people together and keeping us cultured.
The festive feeling centers around the Feast of San Lorenzo on August 10, honoring Saint Lawrence, the co-patron saint of Florence, and "Ferragosto" on August 15, a national holiday that’s said to date to ancient Roman times as well as the date celebrated by the Catholic Church as the Feast of the Assumption of Mary.
Many businesses shut their doors to mark the occasion, so make sure to plan wisely!
A hilltop breeze in Fiesole, just a short distance from Florence, offers welcome relief on the hottest summer "serate" (evenings), offering extra enticement to check out the multidisciplinary festival, Estate Fiesolana, taking place in the ancient Roman Theatre of Fiesole until September 12.
You’ll find a wide variety of performances and even a "Cinema Sotto le Stelle" (cinema under the stars) series from August 7-23 that includes a number of English-language screenings.
Essentially, almost every evening in August, you’re bound to find a memorable cultural experience combined with an incredible view! Keeping with cinema, the historic Cinema Flora in piazza Dalmazia has reopened its doors after months of extensive renovation, marking a new chapter for the city’s oldest cinema still in operation.
It was founded in 1914 by entrepreneur Evelio Marinai, founder of a chocolate factory, who named it after his wife, Flora. It’s lovely to see it continue to have such a strong role in the community so many years later!
To mark the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States, the Bardini Gardens hosts ten photographs from the Foto Locchi Archive in an exhibition titled Florence and the U.S. – The Story of a Friendship, on display until October 18.
It makes for very interesting viewing as it explores the deep bond between Florentines and Americans, with the display covering war-ravaged Florence and its rebirth following its liberation by the U.S. Fifth Army in August 1944, from baseball games to Hollywood stars.
It also explores somber moments like the devastating flood in 1966 and the efforts of the Mud Angels, which included many American volunteers, to help rescue the city’s artistic heritage.
And to conclude, a delicious Tuscan summer dish to try!
"Acquacotta" is a rustic vegetable soup traditionally enjoyed in the Maremma countryside, in southern Tuscany. While often served warm, it can also be adapted into a lighter summer version by using seasonal vegetables and serving it at room temperature, making it a refreshing and nourishing meal. The classic recipe combines tomatoes, onions, celery, herbs and toasted bread, creating a simple dish that celebrates fresh, local ingredients.
For a seasonal twist, you could try adding courgettes, fresh beans, basil or a poached egg for extra richness and flavor. It’s definitely worth trying!
THE HAMPTONS
August in Westhampton Beach has its own rhythm: bright mornings by the ocean, afternoons that drift between Dune Road and Main Street, and evenings filled with the warm glow of a village at its most lively.
On Wednesday evenings, the Village Green comes alive with the Summer Gazebo Concert Series — a lovely local ritual where music carries through the center of town as the day slowly gives way to night.
A little further along Main Street, the Performing Arts Center continues to bring a wonderful energy to the season, with music, conversation, and summer nights worth lingering over.
And if you happen to be nearby, my Atelier is always open for a quick "Ciao Bella"!.
There is an effortless elegance here: sun-faded blue, white linen, salty air, and the pleasure of moving slowly from the beach to dinner with nowhere else to be. Westhampton Beach reminds us that the best summer moments are often the simplest ones — shared, unhurried, and beautifully memorable.
PALM BEACH
August brings a quieter kind of beauty to Palm Beach. As many familiar faces head north for the season, the island reveals its most peaceful side.
Mornings begin with the sound of the ocean, afternoons unfold under brilliant blue skies, and every sunset feels just a little more spectacular.
There is something special about experiencing Palm Beach at this time of year. It is a reminder that true luxury is often found in simplicity: beautiful surroundings, quiet moments, and timeless style.
