We've been talking about the power of IMAGINATION and how we can use our imagination to create a life of our design. In this final week on the theme of imagination, our focus will be on how knowing our lineage gives us a broader perspective of who we are and where we come from. As black people, so few of know us know our history and our lineage.

Spotlight on Lashada DiCosmo

Our spotlight is on a good friend of ours who attended the Mom, Me, & Morocco trip and a member of the Quartz Wellness Collective. Lashada DiCosmo is a wife, mother, family historian, and so much more!
Lashada imagined what it would be like to really understand where she comes from and from that desire she created the Mace Family Museum. Visit the website to learn more about the history, artifacts, and notable historic places.
The concept was created because "It is our turn to control our narratives and give life to our forgotten ancestors. We hope our story makes you think and wonder and ask new questions and most of all, we hope you are inspired to tell us yours. When we tell our stories, we restore radical truths to the national dialogue. We must engage in truth-telling because ours, too, is the story of America."

Lashada believes that when people are "enlightened and inspired they have the ability to be disruptive and accomplish amazing things." 1 COVE is a consulting agency uniquely designed to create and influence projects, experiences, and products for those that are seeking to amplify, understand and celebrate Black Culture.

The Adventures of Little Nellie Nimble
|
|
|
The story of "Little Nellie Nimble" revolves around a little African-American girl. Her adventures, as they are called, provide a learning experience for all children. The story has characters from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. Through clever writing "The Adventures of Little Nellie Nimble" teaches children responsibility and the consequences of their behavior. The characters are illustrated throughout the stories to lend visual support to each plot. The discussion questions at the end of each "adventure" are a fun and effective way to prepare young students for standardized testing of reading and comprehension.
