From the Waitlist – Lavender Pomatum

When we released Lavender Pomatum in the early spring, it quickly sold out and many of you joined the waiting list. We’ve only now just released a small batch for the season. 

Our handmade salve is made using an extra special lavender absolute from the vast, sun-drenched fields of France. Lavender absolute is very different from ordinary steam-distilled lavender essential oil. Rather than using heat, the fragrant flower heads are first transformed into a wax known as a concrete, preserving the delicate aromatic compounds that can be altered or lost in a speedy distillation. The waxes are then gently removed, leaving behind a mesmerizing deep blue-green material with extraordinary depth. The scent has a fuller form – softer, more nuanced and herbaceous, and closer to the scent of the whole living plant. 

Lavender has been used to treat the body and spirit for thousands of years. It was prized by Egyptian healers, used as part of the medical traditions of the medieval world, and kept in homes and apothecaries for centuries as a remedy for headaches, sleeplessness, and nervous exhaustion. In the English countryside, farmers were said to tuck lavender flowers into their hats to cure headaches during long days in the fields and It is still one of the most widely called upon plants in aromatherapy to ease anxiety and  lift low spirits. 

For the skin, it is known for its soothing, antioxidant, and cleansing properties, making it especially useful for bringing comfort to areas prone to redness or irritation. A perfect spot treatment for chapped and rough patches, blemishes, and moments when the complexion just feels out of balance. It is a beautifully fresh and light all natural perfume solid that can second as an antioxidant-rich under eye salve, a lip and face balm, or spot applied anywhere that there is a blemish or where skin needs a little extra love.
