It's hard to believe it's been 25 years.
A quarter of a century since the world changed in an instant.
In years past, we've marked this day with giveaways and promotions in honor of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Things that, looking back, served a commercial purpose more than anything else.
That doesn't feel right today.
Today, I just want to pause and remember.
I want to thank the 400+ first responders who ran toward the chaos when everyone else was running away. The firefighters, police officers, and paramedics who made the ultimate sacrifice.
I want to thank the military service members who, in the days and years that followed, took an oath to defend this nation against all enemies, foreign and domestic — and kept that oath, no matter the cost.
And I want to thank you.
The everyday Protectors who might not wear a uniform, but who feel that same calling deep in their chest. The ones who decided that if evil shows up in your world, you won't stand by and watch.
You're the Sheepdogs.
The ones who understand that freedom isn't free, and safety isn't guaranteed.
On that September morning, 2,977 innocent people went to work, boarded planes, and kissed their families goodbye — never knowing it would be the last time.
Life is a precious and fragile thing … it can be taken in a heartbeat.
That's why what you do matters.
Your training. Your preparedness. Your willingness to stand in the gap between evil and the people you love.
It ALL matters.
So today, I'm not asking you to buy anything or click anywhere.
I'm just asking you to remember.
Remember those who gave everything.
Remember why you carry.
And remember that every single day is a gift — one worth protecting.
