Here’s a disturbing question…
Are you worried about a mass shooting this summer?
At a mall?
A church?
A parade?
A school event?
A crowded outdoor concert?
Now let me ask you something else…
Are you worried about your next flight being hijacked?
Probably not.
Why?
Because after 9/11, America got serious.
We hardened cockpit doors.
Changed procedures.
Trained crews.
Added armed air marshals.
(Our head of education and training, Mike Seeklander, helped train them, in fact.)
We sent a message to terrorists, loud and clear:
No terrorist should ever expect a plane full of helpless victims again.
Common sense worked.
But when it comes to mass shootings?
We keep trying “solutions” that either don’t solve the problem…
Or make it WORSE.
Senseless solution #1: ban the scary-looking rifle.
Virginia Tech was one of the deadliest school shootings in American history.
The killer used two handguns: a 9mm Glock 19 and a .22-caliber Walther P22.
NOT a so-called "assault rifle”.
The issue was not the weapon.
The issue was time…
Time to move.
Time to reload.
Time to keep going…
Because he knew nobody inside those walls could stop him.
Help was more than 10 minutes away.
Senseless solution #2: ban magazines over a certain capacity.
As one politician said of this "solution", it’d take the “mass” out of “mass shootings.”
But comments like this are completely ignorant of how these attacks actually work…
In many cases, the attacker has more than enough time to reload because
nobody is trained, armed, or prepared to resist him.
Senseless solution #3: create “gun-free” zones and hope evil obeys the sign.
This may comfort politicians.
And activists.
But it does nothing to stop a killer who already plans to break the law.
In fact, it creates EXACTLY what these monsters want most…
A room full of innocent people with no real means to resist.
Now consider this.
- With armed guards:
- We protect banks.
- We protect airports.
-
We protect politicians.
- We protect celebrities.
- We protect courthouses.
- We protect jewelry stores.
But when someone says we should protect children, churches, malls, and everyday Americans with trained, responsible, concealed defenders…
Suddenly, that’s “extreme”?
No. What’s extreme – and dangerous – is:
- Asking good people to remain helpless.
- Pretending a sign is a shield.
- And watching the same failed ideas get recycled after every tragedy…
All the while real solutions exist…
But are dismissed because they aren’t politically correct.
Here’s the truth:
Mass killers do not fear laws they already intend to break…
They fear resistance.
They fear armed citizens.
They fear the one person in the room who refuses to be helpless…
At New Life Church in Colorado, an armed volunteer shot an attacker with 1,000 rounds on him…
Before he could continue his rampage on a campus with thousands of people present.
At Greenwood Park Mall in Indiana, a young concealed carrier in his 20s stopped a rifle-armed murderer within seconds.
And in June 2025, at CrossPointe Community Church near Detroit, a prepared church security team helped prevent what police said could have become a large-scale mass shooting.
Over one hundred lives potentially saved.
(That security team had just taken the USCCA®’s “Protecting Our Houses of Worship” training days before the shooting.)
Because after 9/11, America learned that you don’t stop evil by wishing it away…
You stop evil by preparing – and equipping – good people to stand in its way.
And if you’d like to join more than 870,000 responsibly armed Americans who believe in real solutions, real training, and who have real preparedness…
I’d invite you to take a closer look at the USCCA today.
