You know that guy in your Saturday group who just keeps making putts?
Austin Smotherman had that guy at his club. A scratch buddy who was draining everything in sight with a L.A.B. putter.
How It Started
His buddy's putting caught Austin's attention, so he asked if he could borrow his L.A.B., and because Austin played on the Korn Ferry Tour, his buddy said yes.
Austin took it to a few Korn Ferry Tour events, liked what he felt, and called our tour rep to figure out what to do next.
One custom build later, he came out to the putting green on a Monday morning, rolled a few putts, and said, "This is the one."
What Happened Next
That week, Austin won the Korn Ferry Tour's BMW Charity Pro-Am. Two weeks after that, the Memorial Health Championship. And he re-earned his PGA Tour card in the process.
Austin has kept rolling with L.A.B. Most recently, he recorded a T2 at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches.
That moved him to a career-high No. 99 in the world, and this week he's playing in his first Arnold Palmer Invitational.
