What Flying Airplanes And Making Soap Have In Common

If you've been around for a while, you've probably heard bits and pieces of my story.

How I left engineering.

How I started making soap in my kitchen.

How La Marcotterie slowly grew into what it is today.

But what you may not know is that my husband Max and I actually met while studying engineering at the University of Ottawa.

Somewhere along the way, we both discovered dreams that looked very different from the careers we had studied for.

For Max, it was flying.

For me, it was soap making.

What started as side projects slowly became something much bigger.

Eventually, we each made the difficult decision to leave engineering behind and pursue those dreams full-time.

Looking back, it's funny how life works.

Neither of us ended up where we thought we would.

But I truly believe everything happens for a reason.

And while we don't regret a single year spent studying engineering, most people leave university with a profession.

We left with something even better.

We found our life partner.

It's a reminder that life doesn't always unfold exactly as planned.

Sometimes the detours end up becoming the best part of the journey.
