Inside Japan's 'miracle town,' where births are soaring amid a demographic crisis

The mountain town of Nagi has mostly been known for growing black soybeans, rice and satoimo, a popular variety of taro root. But now it's famous for producing something else: babies.

Japanese officials, alarmed by a national birth rate that has fallen well below the level necessary for a stable population, are eager to unlock the secret to why nearly half of Nagi's households have three or more children.
