Yet when thinking about the best way to engage kids at an early age we realized that the most important thing for them to learn is the abstract ideas in computer science rather then a specific type of coding. And because of this, we designed the simplest product that would allow kids to program the movements and sounds of Rover using colorful, wooden coding blocks. As simple as LEGO.
There would be no screens involved with Mochi because we believe that screens get in the way of understanding the core ideas. They are simply too distracting and often confound different levels of abstraction to confuse rather than clarify. And yet, despite the simplicity, you can program more unique algorithms with Mochi than there are stars in the universe. Low barrier to entry, but a high ceiling before you get to mastery. We believe it is the perfect learning experience for the budding inventor.
