In honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the CFDA and Vogue partnered with Rockefeller Center and America250 to present United Flags of Fashion.

Leading American designers were invited to create original flags inspired by the states and territories of the United States.

lemlem was tasked with reimagining the flag of Maryland, offering a creative interpretation that reflects the nation’s rich diversity and cultural breadth.

All the flags are now displayed at Rockefeller Center in honor of America's 250th birthday.

Our redesigned Maryland flag, reinterprets the state’s historic layout using a serene color palette of soft sky blue, cream, and deep navy. We replaced the traditional bold geometry with lemlem's signature hand-woven textile aesthetic, featuring delicate vertical stripes and geometric patterns alongside a softened version of the iconic cross bottony.

The result is a modern, textile-driven interpretation that beautifully blends Maryland's heritage with our brand's artisanal spirit.
