Most Macs receive
at least 7 years of major operating system updates. Even after that, Apple continues providing

With the release of macOS Sequoia, Apple dropped security support for Monterey, meaning some older Macs are no longer receiving updates. Here’s how long these models were supported to give you an idea of longevity:

at least 8 years of support for most models, and with the transition to Apple Silicon (all models from 2020 onwards), support windows are likely to extend even further!
What Happens After macOS Updates Stop?
Once security updates end, you
can still use your Mac, especially for general tasks like web browsing, emails, streaming, and homework. Microsoft Office 365, for example, still runs on macOS Catalina (released in 2019). If you purchased a MacBook Air 2012 for example so far you've had
13 years of application support!

✅ Use a microfiber cloth and avoid harsh chemicals like ammonia or alcohol when you clean.

✅ Use a microfiber protector when closing your MacBook to prevent wear.
Chassis & Keyboard Care
✅ Avoid stickers and hard-shell cases—they can discolor the metal.
✅ Store in a soft case or sleeve for protection.

not directly on the device.

✅ Use canned air or a cotton swab to clean ports
