There’s a moment, every day, when your skin is most ready to receive care.
Most people miss it.
It happens in the shower.
Warm water.
Steam in the air.
Your body softening without you even trying.
Your skin, in those few minutes, is completely different than it is standing at the sink.
More open.
More fluid.
More receptive.
And yet, what do most of us do?
We step out.
We reach for a towel.
We dry off completely.
And then we try to put moisture back in.
It doesn’t quite work because what we’ve just done is close the door.
There’s something I think of as “outside skin.” It’s that dry, protective layer that forms once water evaporates. It keeps you safe. But it also makes absorption much harder. So when you apply oils or balms onto fully dry skin, they tend to sit on the surface. Not because they aren’t working, but because your skin isn’t ready.
Try this instead: Stay in the shower a little longer.
Let your skin become warm, soft, almost sponge-like, then turn off the water. Skip the towel and just stay there a moment. While still wet, massage your face and body oils directly into that water until you feel your skin plump.
That's it. This shift alone can make a monumental difference. Soften first. Use the water that's already there. Then feed in and ENJOY.
