Hi friends,

I have a theory. Ask a woman how she's doing, and she will look you dead in the eyes and say "fine" while her to-do list is on fire, and she hasn't told her doctor about that thing that's been bothering her for eight months because she didn't want to seem dramatic. We are conditioned to deal with discomfort quietly, because somewhere along the way we all got the message that advocating for ourselves makes us ‘high maintenance.’ So we say we're fine. To our doctors. To our partners. To ourselves. And all those little "fines" add up to years of ignoring things that deserved our attention.

I'm calling it The Comfort Tax: the tax women pay for not wanting to be a bother. And it's too high! This campaign is timed to Women's Health Month on purpose. Women under report symptoms. Women downplay pain. Women leave appointments without saying the thing they came to say. I'm done with it, so done that Megababe put more money into a billboard than we ever have before. Because if we're going to normalize something, let it be women saying: actually, I'm not fine, and that’s ok!

To accomplish this, I built a Complaint Hotline. A place to go when you are not fine and you just need to say it out loud. We also partnered with Social Goods on a graphic tee and two baseball caps, and 10% of proceeds go to the SeekHer Foundation. Wear it. Call the hotline. Stop saying you're fine.
