Tessa is a young, brilliant London barrister who has worked her way up from working class origins in Liverpool. Specializing in defending men accused of sexual assault, Tessa is brilliant in a field dominated by ruthless male lawyers who treat the law as a bloodsport.

Then an unexpected event forces her to confront the lines where the patriarchal power of the law, burden of proof and morals diverge.

Playwright Suzie Miller based this play on her experiences as a lawyer in Australia, where Prima Facie was first staged. Miller’s most recent play, Inter Alia, was just staged to great acclaim in London and will make its Broadway debut this fall.

This Canadian premiere production stars Bethany Jillard (Stratford Festival) and is directed by one of Canada’s finest veteran actors, Seana McKenna.

Running Time: 1 hours 40 minutes (no intermission)
