"Is Misenware REALLY microwave safe? Isn't metal supposed to spark in there?"
The common "no metal in the microwave" rule was never about all metal — it was about poorly designed metal with thin edges, sharp points, or right-angle corners that concentrate electromagnetic energy and cause a spark. Misenware is built with thick 304 stainless steel and rounded corners that reflect microwave energy safely. We've tested this extensively across all three container sizes, at multiple wattages and durations.
"What microwave wattages are safe?"
Misenware is lab-tested and safe in 1000W microwaves for up to 10 minutes at a time, and in 1100W microwaves for up to 5 minutes at a time. Check the sticker inside your microwave door or your microwave's manual to confirm your oven's wattage. Do not use Misenware in 1200W microwaves or 915 MHz microwaves, even if you manually lower the power setting.
"Will storing acidic foods in Misenware affect the container or change the flavor of the food in the container?"
304 stainless steel is one of the most widely used food-safe materials in professional kitchens and won't affect the vast majority of foods you store in it. Even highly acidic foods like tomato sauce or citrus-heavy preparations are totally safe to store for at least 3-4 days. We're still testing to understand how and whether Misenware reacts at longer durations.
"Is Misenware really leakproof?"
Yes! As long as the lid is properly sealed and the vent is fully closed, Misenware passes upside-down and sideways leak tests with water, oil, and tomato sauce, at every duration we tested. So go ahead, throw that salad dressing in a tote.
"Can it go straight from the freezer to the microwave?"
It does! The stainless steel container can go directly from the freezer to the microwave. The tempered glass lid isn't freezer-to-microwave safe, so if you want to heat something up with the lid on, defrost it in the fridge first.
"Can I microwave with the lid on?"
You sure can. The lid is microwave-safe at the same wattage and time limits as the container (1100W for up to 5 minutes, or 1000W for up to 10 minutes), just leave the steam vent open to release excess steam while cooking. The lid gets extremely hot afterward, so use oven mitts or a towel when removing it, and watch for escaping steam.
