There's a lot of noise right now about AI — who's using it, how, and whether you can trust a brand that does.

So here's how we use it at MISMO.

We're a four-person operation — Issy, Peter, Mary and Jessie. We pack and ship your orders from our warehouse on the Sunshine Coast — the same building where we run a small coffee bar and events space for our local customers. Issy and Pete handle the computer stuff, Mary and Jessie handle the coffee and orders.

Before MISMO, Pete was a chemical engineer in Kuala Lumpur. Issy was working in hospitality in Austin, Texas. Neither of us planned to be running a family e-commerce business on the Sunshine Coast — but here we are, and honestly, we wouldn't have it any other way.

There's no marketing department. No copywriting team. Just two people learning on the job, with Mary and Jessie keeping the whole operation running around us.

AI helps us bridge the gap between what we want to do and what we can actually get done in a day.

Here's exactly what I used it for this week:

— Writing copy for our Meta ads

— Developing a training guide for Mary

— Planning our upcoming birthday sale (more on that next week 👀)

— Developing new sections for our website and debugging some issues

— Editing an image for an Instagram post

— Writing a blog post

— Turning our half-formed ideas into something we can actually communicate clearly — like a really fast, patient proofreader

AI lets us run this business as if we were a team of 10, when we're really a team of 4. It's still us behind the computer, behind the phones, behind the brand.
