What If: Disappearing Hourglass

Disappearing blocks are almost as old as the beginning of Missouri Star tutorials. They’ve been around for a long time! Mom first took different blocks and experimented with cutting them down and rearranging them and today, we’re playing some more!

In today’s What If tutorial, I’m taking the Disappearing Hourglass block and taking it for another spin. Most often when we make a disappearing block, we’re rearranging pieces from one singular block and putting it back together. Today, I made two different blocks, a light block and a dark block, cut those up, and switched pieces of each block to transform the entire look!

It’s really so fun to see how some small changes make a huge difference. To make this quilt, I used one package of Fundamentals Head to Taupe 10” squares and Gesso Black for our background fabric.
