I saw Mixed in the wild. THREE times!

On Friday, after finishing up my workout in Williamsburg, I saw someone in the Farmers Market jumpsuit walking across the street from my gym. I literally gasped, dropped my bags, and immediately ran after her to say hi—this was my first time seeing a Mixed jumpsuit IRL! Her name is Dani and the FM jumpsuit looked SO good on her. We got to chatting a bit and turns out, she’s from Philly and only in town for the night—what are the odds?! Also, her mom gifted her the piece (shoutout to Vicky!), which I thought was so special 🥺

The next day, inspired by seeing Dani IRL, I came up with this fun little idea that any time I see Mixed in the wild, that piece would go on sale for 24 hours. (So the Farmers Market jumpsuit is now $30 off! 🌼🍒🍇💖🍉) I figured it wouldn’t happen often, just a fun little flash sale here and there.

But of course, you know where this story's going. lol.

Yesterday I was shopping in Soho when my partner pointed behind me and said, “someone’s wearing your jumpsuit!” I turned around to see Kristie, someone who had attended our S23 collection launch event (I remember her sitting in the front row of our runway show), wearing the Colorblock jumpsuit! Two back-to-back Mixed sightings?! I couldn’t believe it. (And unlike last time, this time I was wearing Mixed hehe 😇)

Cue another flash sale on the Colorblock jumpsuit 💖🧡

And then AGAIN. I was in the Whole Foods in Union Square, carrying 6 boxes of tofu to checkout when I saw someone walk into the store wearing our Early Bird Lapel shirt. I ran down the escalator to catch up to her. Her name is Christine and I loved the way she styled the Early Bird shirt with white pants! She also has the Pink 'Nana jumpsuit! 🍌

One thing that Dani, Kristie, and Christine all said to me was: I get SO many compliments when I wear Mixed. Which got my wheels turning. How can we take these IRL interactions you have with strangers and use them as moments to welcome more people into the mix? Maybe it’s a discount code or referral program where they get a surprise discount for complimenting you IRL and you get a thank you gift for referring them to Mixed. But how can we make this more creative or more communal? If you have any ideas, I’m all ears.

But wow. It’s been so unreal to have all these Mixed in the wild encounters over the weekend. There’s been a constant theme throughout my journey, which is that I doubt if any of this is real. My teammates know this first hand—I still worry that all of this could somehow disappear tomorrow. My beliefs and confidence haven’t caught up to my ambitions. And honestly, I’m still not there, but this weekend definitely made me bet on Mixed and myself a little bit more.
