M.M.LaFleur’s Memorial Day Sale is here. Save up to 70% through Monday.
If you’re anything like me, Memorial Day snuck up on you this year; until recently, I was still thawing out from the winter that wouldn’t quit. Well, the unofficial start of summer has finally arrived, and with it, M.M.LaFleur’s Memorial Day sale.
A great sale can be overwhelming, so I polled our styling team for the three most common scenarios they’re hearing from our customers this season, and built a handy shortlist you can reference to make the most of this weekend’s offers. Whether you’re embarking on a new professional opportunity and building out the work capsule to match, curating some pieces to take on summer trips, or looking to bring magic back to your weekly rotation, these pieces will help kick off your warm weather style season on a strong note.

Kicking off this summer with your first post-grad job, a new title, or perhaps a leap into entrepreneurship? How exciting! Here are our picks for pieces you’ll reach for most so you look polished without feeling weighed down in the heat.
The Fitz Trouser and matching Myla Blazer:Modern suiting silhouettes in our light as air Everyday Twill fabric, which drapes beautifully while still projecting structure. These are great paired together, but their magic really comes in their versatility. Try the Myla with jeans and a tee, you’ll see what I mean.
For one-and-done dressing, try Taka Wrap Dressin our fan-favorite Everyday Crepe fabric. The topstitch detail is one of those extra thoughtful details I love about all M.M.LaFleur designs that takes this piece from everyday to elegant, and the silhouette is both easy and flattering. Want something in a multicolor pattern that has the versatility of a neutral? Then the Asia Shirt Dressis for you.
Are you ready for a proper power suit with an M.M. twist? Then you’ll love the Tessa Trouserand the Rossi Blazer. Italian Wool Twill sounds quite formal, but these styles are designed for movement. Check out the sneaky elastic seaming in the Rossi - that’s right, you can stretch your arms in this one. These are iconic foundational silhouettes, no matter the season.
You’re traveling for work and play, and want to make the most of your suitcase.

This is the year you will finally nail your travel capsule. Here are some styles worth adding to your rotation.
TheFranka Ruched Top, theAra Midi Skirt, and theVon Ruched Dress: When we opened our Philly store, I shoved our Rani dress in the bottom of my travel bag, where it lay crumpled during an Amtrak trip and full day of events before I put it on for a brand-led dinner. Was I once worried about how I would look? Not at all, because Light Jersey is a miracle fabric that feels like a whisper but has iron-strength wrinkle resistance. The Franka and Ara can be worn both as a matching set, and then broken apart for the rest of your trip. The Von is a stunner of a silhouette - elegant enough for a work dinner but breezy enough for beachside cocktails.
Can attest that Light Jersey also travels well to the vineyards of Saint-Émilion.
Suitcase-worthy suiting is a must if you have any business travel on the horizon. Start with the Kati Blazer in Luxe Flex Suiting, which is simultaneously menswear inspired and waist-defining, so it works equally well with jeans and layered over a dress. You should also consider the Blanca Dress in Everyday Crepe. Fuchsia is having a moment right now, and this girl can be styled as both a vest and a dress - your cost per wear will be in the pennies. The best part? Both of these styles are machine washable.
A printed top can be the silent champion of your travel capsule, and the Emmy Drape Top in our Printed Everyday Satin might be that top for you. Wear it with our matching Orchard skirt in the evening for that dream dinner you know is the secret highlight of your business trip to Paris, and then you can tuck it into trousers the next morning to lead your meeting.
You’re looking for a few pieces to spark some style inspiration.
From top left: Jett, Archie, Ayla, Boden
You know this feeling, but it’s harder to articulate. Your wardrobe feeeeels fine, but you keep reaching for the same four things and you’re looking for some inspiration. These styles will fit right into your rotation and give you that spark back:
The Jett Tank: This is more than just a luxurious ribbed pima cotton tank - it’s also the gateway to your minimalist ‘90s style fantasy.
Sporting the Jett at Polo Bar with friends, channeling my inner CBK.
The Archie Jean: There is a reason that most of the M.M. team has at least 2-3 Better than Denim styles in their closet. In the pants hierarchy of needs, Better than Denim somehow satisfies Cool Jeans, Stretchy Pants, and Polished Work Trousers all at the same time. Start (or continue…) your Better than Denim journey with the Archie, the kick flare silhouette – for my fellow petite gals, don’t miss out on the snaps on the hem.
The Ayla Travel Jacket: This entire guide could honestly have just OrigamiTech styles, the ultra lightweight, machine-washable, wrinkle-resistant suiting that has become an M.M. signature. If you’re not yet acquainted, start with this cropped jacket. I cannot be held responsible if you fall in love with the whole Origamitech line as a result, that is our Design team’s fault!
The Nicky Jacket: A jacket that isjust the right balance of crisp and casual to work both over a sundress on a rooftop and over a tank on a Friday at the office. Plus, stripes = summer (and also, Jenn reminded us that they are the new neutral).
Sometimes, the answer is a pretty new dress. The Boden Al Fresco Dressin Cotton Poplin is a shirtdress for grownups: it fits right into any work to apéro hour situation you might find yourself in on a Summer Friday. And when you need a vacation in dress form? Try the Fina Dress, a body skimming silhouette that is both a textural feast due to its crochet knit and super breathable, thanks to a 100%-cotton composition.
Miscellaneous things that have delighted, inspired, or fascinated the teaMM this week.
To listen: M.M.’s Founder & CEO Sarah LaFleur was back on the How I Built This podcast. This time, she joined host Guy Raz for their Advice Line series, where she answered listener questions and recounted rebuilding M.M. in the wake of the pandemic.
To read: We were honored to feature the inimitable Gwen Whiting on the M Dash this week. Gwen is truly leading the way for founders to rethink what growing a success business looks like.
To cook: This herby, buttery chicken from Jacques Pepin. If you’re stuck in a cooking rut, herbs and butter will probably solve it. I know it is not a traditional Memorial Day rec but you have all summer to eat hot dogs.
To watch: Megan Fairchild has spent the last two decades as a principal dancer at the NYC Ballet quietly redrawing the boundaries of this role’s possibility. During her tenure, she both got her MBA at NYU, and had three kids. She is retiring this weekend, and her final ballet is COPPÉLIA. In this video, watch her break down the role of Swanilda, COPPÉLIA’s quirky heroine — the role in which she will take her final bow.
