For Jenny Tough, fastpacking across mountain ranges has become an obsession. Her favourite type of scrolling involves maps, and this time, Central Asia caught her eye.

The Fann Mountains, a lesser-known range in Tajikistan, west of the Pamirs offers a paradise of soaring peaks, glittering lakes, and rugged terrain. In a region where buses lack timetables and paved roads have yet to scar the landscape, logistics can be tricky.

Franco Cookson completed the first ascent of "But Nothing Is Lost" in traditional style - a climb proposed at E12 7a and believed to represent the hardest trad route yet established in the UK.

High on a remote sweep of syenite on Ben Loyal, the line had been there for years. Improbable, unfinished, and quietly waiting. For Franco, it wasn’t just another project. It was something far more consuming: a four-year process of returning, refining, and gradually confronting a pitch that would demand everything he had.

Robyn Cassidy runs the Transgrancanaria classic

Montane athlete Robyn Cassidy ran her way to 4th place in the women’s race at the Transgrancanaria Classic.

Starting just before midnight on Las Canteras beach, runners disappeared into the mountains under a ribbon of headtorches. Rain moved in early. Trails turned slick. Wind pushed across the high ground. The kind of long, rough night where footing matters and small decisions add up.

From the capital of Las Palmas to the southern coast of Maspalomas, the course cuts across the volcanic spine of Gran Canaria. Over 120km of rugged ground with most of the climbing still waiting deep in the race.

Robyn is no stranger to tough conditions. When the trails turn to a slip and slide and the weather closes in, she keeps moving forward.
