Immigrants have been the target of Trump's dehumanizing attacks for years. Now, his administration freely uses violent, deadly tactics that threaten immigrants' safety and lives.
ICE is the highest-funded U.S. law enforcement agency, and under Trump, it's running its operations with no transparency or oversight.
Last year, Congress passed $75 billion for ICE, and just last week, Congress passed another $70 billion immigration enforcement bill—giving Trump the funding to implement his deportation crackdown through the end of his presidential term.1,2
The detention and deportation crisis created by Trump and enabled by his MAGA loyalists is growing by the day. The conditions in prison-like ICE detention facilities are so "unsafe, inhumane and unconstitutional" that the people forcibly held there are going on hunger strikes in protest.3
And ICE's cruel disregard for human life isn't limited to how it runs the detention centers.
Vulnerable people have died because of the way in which they were released by ICE. In Pennsylvania, a young asylum seeker died from hypothermia in February because she wasn't given warm clothes.4 Also in February, a nearly blind refugee in New York was abandoned without care by ICE and was found dead in below-freezing temperatures.5
And to hide all of their misdoings, the Trump administration, with the help of Republicans in Congress, has shut down the Immigration Detention Ombudsman watchdog office.6 ICE is also no longer required to report the deaths of detainees within 30 days of their release from custody.7
Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, and their MAGA enablers in Congress are trying to hide what they're doing, but we're not going to let them get away with it. We will continue to stand up for our communities visibly and proudly! And we're going to vote our values in November.
