After Prime Minister Netanyahu ordered his military to “increase the blows” in Lebanon, Israeli forces launched more than 100 strikes.[1]

As the Israeli Defense Minister promises that “the fate of southern Lebanon will be the same as that of Gaza,” we cannot stay silent. The U.S. government holds unique leverage to stop the violence, and a growing coalition in Congress is this close to using it.

It can’t happen soon enough. The humanitarian consequences of this months-long military assault are already dire. Thousands have been killed. One in four people in Lebanon faces acute food insecurity. More than 1 million have been displaced from their homes. Families are living in tents because there is nowhere safe left to return to. And now the crisis is accelerating — driven by U.S.-made weapons.

Rep. Delia Ramirez’s Block the Bombs Act would prohibit the White House from selling, transferring, or licensing key offensive weapons to the Israeli government unless human rights conditions are met. Today, we’re asking you to contact your lawmakers to demand they do everything in their power to stop the war in Lebanon and end U.S. complicity in the Israeli military’s violence. Blocking the bombs is a crucial part of the plan.

Tell Congress to pass the Block the Bombs Act immediately and stop the flow of U.S. weapons fueling violence in Lebanon and beyond.

Every day without action means more senseless suffering and death.

While Lebanon’s humanitarian crisis deepens, the Israeli military signaled even more attacks are imminent — issuing evacuation orders for Nabatieh, one of the largest cities in southern Lebanon, earlier this week.

For too long, across multiple Administrations, government officials and lawmakers have looked the other way to sign off on weapons sales, ignoring incredible human rights abuses and violence that these sales enable. By stirring up enough outrage, we can push them to make a different choice; one that stops a devastating war, ends unconscionable suffering, and protects people.

The Block the Bombs Act offers a new path forward by blocking sales of weapons that the Israeli government has used to decimate Lebanon and Gaza, including U.S. bombs, tank rounds, and artillery shells that they’ve massacred civilians with. It represents what people across the country want: To halt a deadly flow of U.S. weapons that fuel unspeakable violence.

There’s never been so much momentum in Congress to end the blank-check approach to the Israeli government. Just last month, a dam broke in the Senate when a record 40 senators voted to halt the sale of armored bulldozers to the Israeli government. It was a monumental benchmark, but we need to go further.

To force action, it’s going to take all of us speaking out. Click here to demand that your lawmakers end U.S. complicity in Israeli military violence in Lebanon and beyond by passing the Block the Bombs Act now.
