No one is above the law

We don’t need to tell you that this war is wrong or that Trump’s actions are illegal.

We don’t need to convince you that if Trump carries out the threats he’s made, the lives of Iranian civilians, U.S. servicemembers, and people across the region will be put at incredible risk. Or that the billions Trump’s wasted on war should be funding healthcare, education, housing, and more.

What you do need to know is that your voice makes a difference.

Our movement pulled Trump back from the brink of war last June. Our non-stop advocacy, petitions, and calls pushed Congress to pass an unprecedented WPR last month. Our voices created the political space for a life-saving ceasefire, and we can’t let up now, as violence resumes.

After Trump renewed strikes against Iran, lawmakers are quickly pursuing accountability measures to rein in an out-of-control authoritarian. That’s not a response we would be seeing had activists like you and organizations like ours not put unrelenting pressure on Congress and the White House time and time again.

With critical votes ahead that could unlock over a trillion more taxpayer dollars for Trump to carry out a violent foreign policy against the will of the people, we need to speak out and make sure Congress listens to our demands.

Will you tell your members of Congress to reject a budget that would fund more of Trump’s warmongering?

The first order of business when Congress returns to session will be voting on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a bill that could authorize $1.15 trillion for the Pentagon — $1.15 trillion for Trump’s warmongering.

One more dime for bombs and bloodshed is a non-starter. Congress must rein in this lawless president immediately. Here’s where things stand: A resounding majority of Americans oppose Trump’s illegal and disastrous Iran War. Congress passed a first-of-its-kind war powers resolution ordering Trump to end it. Now, he’s abandoned diplomacy and escalated instead, putting millions of people in Iran and across the Middle East in harm’s way.

Congress must reassert its power over a president who believes he is above the law. In the coming days, they’ll have a key chance to do exactly that by rejecting his proposed war budget.
