Trump is refusing to rule out deploying the U.S. military to polling sites this November and has gone as far as to call to "nationalize" voting in battleground states—which would strip power away from the states and instead centralize our voting system with the federal government.¹

Federal law has protected polling places from military interference since the Civil War, allowing only an extremely narrow exception involving enemies of the state.² We can't risk Trump exploiting any loophole to use armed agents at our voting locations.

Lawmakers are working to block Trump's shameless and dangerous attempts to intimidate voters and suppress turnout with new legislation, the Protect Our Polls Act. Will you add your name calling on Congress to act NOW and pass this legislation before November?

Under the Protect Our Polls Act, the authority to deploy troops to the polls would be placed squarely in the hands of Congress—circumventing Trump's potential attempts to weaponize the federal government against his political opponents.

Action can't come soon enough: Threats of election interference are growing by the day.

Trump's Department of Justice (DOJ) sent federal monitors to polls in four Democratic-leaning cities in Michigan. And that comes on the heels of an announcement to monitor 15 places across Arizona, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Virginia, increasing monitors through November.³

Elections belong to the people, not the Trump administration. Add your name and tell Congress to keep troops away from the polls.

This is all part of Trump's major attack on voting rights. His DOJ is fighting in court to gain access to voter rolls, even after judges rejected its demands.⁴ Meanwhile, Trump is pushing the Senate to pass the devastating SAVE Act, which would gut voting rights and disenfranchise millions of voters.⁵

We've already seen Trump follow through on past authoritarian threats, and we can't risk him doing it again. Sign the petition calling on Congress to keep our elections safe through common-sense legislation!

The Trump administration has already weaponized troops against the people they're sworn to protect in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago, and beyond.⁶ Now, with our poll sites at risk, we must ensure that voters are protected from intimidation.

Laws to keep the federal government from deploying troops to the polls exist for a reason. One voting rights expert said, "These laws were designed to ensure that there is no federal interference with voting."⁷

Now, we need to take it a step further and ensure that Congress can act to prevent a corrupt White House from deploying members of the military to our poll sites. Will you sign the petition to say NO troops at the polls?
