The Supreme Court is out of control. Time and time again they’ve ruled in favor of conservative politicians, billionaires, and corporations at the expense of everyday people and our freedoms.
Our nation’s highest court is failing us. It’s working for the powerful, not for the people. This isn’t a coincidence—Donald Trump has packed our courts in order to push the MAGA extremist agenda.
The momentum for court reform is at an all-time high—more and more members of Congress are demanding change to the Supreme Court. But this should be the baseline position for every single Democrat in power, especially when the court is taking a wrecking ball to our rights. Trump and his MAGA allies need to know that we won’t allow them to use the court to take away our freedoms any longer. Silence is not an option! Send a quick letter to your Democratic members of congress to demand they speak out about court reform now!
From ruling to take away our right to abortion to siding with corporations that are polluting our air and water to gutting the Voting Rights Act and silencing the voices of Black and brown voters, one thing is clear: The MAGA majority of the court is working around the clock to take away our rights and freedoms. Congress must interfere to rein in the court.
We have to speak up to demand that every Democrat make court reform a priority and an obligation. Congress has the power to restore balance and integrity to the Supreme Court by enacting term limits, passing an enforceable code of ethics, and expanding the court under the next pro-democracy President.
Write a letter to your legislator now to demand they prioritize court reform. All Democrats in Congress need to hear from every single one of us loud and clear: We need court reform NOW!
Public trust in the Supreme Court is at an all-time low.1
Justice Clarence Thomas has been the center of many scandals for the last decades, from lavish vacations gifted by his billionaire friends to his own wife's involvement in efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. And yet, he still didn’t recuse himself from a single case related to Trump’s role in the insurrection.2,3
Justice Samuel Alito refused to recuse himself from cases regarding the January 6 insurrection, even though he had an inverted flag outside of his home to show support for insurrectionists. He’s refused to recuse himself from cases involving gas and oil corporations, while he personally owns stocks that could be impacted by these rulings.4,5
And Chief Justice Roberts has failed the American people by leading this court into a politicized machine for the right wing. Justice Roberts has spent decades working to gut the Voting Rights Act, fighting to use the law to take away the power of our votes and rig elections in order to keep Republicans in power.6
This current system is not working. SCOTUS cannot go on any longer like this.
It’s not enough to wait until the next Democrat in the White House can nominate a new justice. We don’t want empty platitudes about the shameful Supreme Court rulings. Every single Democratic member of Congress should be onboard with restoring balance and integrity to the Supreme Court by backing term limits, demanding an enforceable code of ethics, and pushing for court expansion once Democrats are back in power!
