Hi there,

For years, we've been told to fear the sun. Yet at the same time, Vitamin D deficiency has become increasingly common, despite sunlight being our primary source of Vitamin D.

Then there's the conversation around sunscreen ingredients. Chemicals such as oxybenzone and octinoxate have come under growing scrutiny, with concerns raised around systemic absorption and potential endocrine-disrupting effects.

And what about diet? Over the past 60 years, our intake of seed oils has increased significantly, dramatically altering our omega-6 to omega-3 ratio. Emerging research suggests that oxidised polyunsaturated fats within cell membranes may influence how skin responds to UV exposure. I'm not suggesting the sun is harmless. Nor do I believe there is a simple answer. But perhaps the conversation is more nuanced than we've been led to believe.
