The word “organic” appears on a lot of skincare products. In my experience, much of it means very little.
In the absence of mandatory regulation, brands are largely free to use the term however they choose. A token organic ingredient buried within a conventional formula is often enough to justify claims like “contains organic ingredients” – with no independent verification at all.
It’s one of the reasons I pursued certification from the very beginning. I wanted an external body to verify that what we put on our labels genuinely reflects what’s in our products.
We’ve held COSMOS certification through ACO – Australian Certified Organic since 2006. COSMOS is the globally recognised standard for organic and natural cosmetics, governing everything from ingredient sourcing and traceability to permitted processing methods and manufacturing practices.
But for me, certification was never about adding another logo to our packaging. It was about accountability.
Our manufacturing is also held to GMP – Good Manufacturing Practice – the same internationally recognised benchmark used across pharmaceutical production. Every batch is traceable. Raw materials are tested upon arrival. Finished products are tested before release. Every stage of production is monitored and documented.
Maintaining these standards is rigorous work. Continuous testing, documentation, auditing, and process control are embedded into every stage of production. Much of it happens behind the scenes, but it’s also what allows us to stand behind every formula with complete confidence.

Many people don't realise how rare this actually is. Most skincare brands outsource production. The formula is developed in one place, manufactured in another, and quality control exists somewhere in between. We’ve never operated that way.
When I develop a formula, I hold myself accountable to the final output that arrives to your doors, and this includes how it’s made – how ingredients behave at scale, how the texture performs, how the final product holds up batch after batch. There’s no separation between formulation and execution. When it comes to your skin, there's nothing I want to leave to chance.
Twenty-six years of doing things this way has shaped every part of Mukti Organics. Not just what goes into our products, but the standards we refuse to compromise on.
