Why you don’t need to have it all figured out at 20, 30, 40, 50, or ever
Somewhere along the way, we picked up this idea that by a certain age, we’re supposed to have life sorted. By 20, you should know your career path. By 30, you should have stability. By 40, you should be thriving. And beyond that? Well, you should probably have everything figured out – finances, relationships, personal growth…
Except… who the heck made these rules? And more importantly, why do we still believe them?
Life isn’t a straight line
There’s this concept that life moves in a neat, predictable order. School, career, love, success, happiness… little stepping stones leading you smoothly from one phase to the next.
But in reality? Life zigs, zags, stalls, speeds up, and sometimes loops back on itself.
At 20, you might feel lost while everyone else seems to have a plan.
At 30, you might change careers completely.
At 40, you might discover a passion that never crossed your mind before.
At 50, you might start over.
And at 60, you might finally realise there was never a finish line to begin with.
No one actually knows what they’re doing

The truth is, you don’t have to know exactly where you’re going. You just have to be willing to move forward, try things, and let yourself grow in unexpected ways.
You’re allowed to change
You’re not the same person at 20 as you are at 40. Or even at 25. Life shifts, priorities evolve, and what once felt right might not fit anymore. And that’s a good thing. It means you’re growing.
Give yourself permission to change directions, to start fresh, to take a break when you need to. Life isn’t a checklist – it’s an ever-changing experience.
