Week in Review #58: Wearing what you loveRecent minimalist looks I've worn and loved, what's new in the studio, and two books I finished reading and highly recommend.
Lately I’ve been tempted to overthink my style. Make it more “interesting” or bold or out there. But that’s not me. My style has evolved over the years, no doubt, but for the most part it has always been fairly simple, understated, minimalist and classic with an effortless feel to it. I feel uncomfortable when it’s too loud or overdone. Accessories, texture, shape and layers are always part of the equation — those details are easy levers to pull to express myself without feeling like I’m putting on a costume or playing dress up. I love a calm color palette. I love simplicity in all areas of my life. I am not someone who delights in being overly busy or letting my life be chaotic and I think my personal style reflects that. More and more, when I’m getting dressed in the morning and the outfit doesn’t feel right, it’s because I’m trying to force it to be “more” when it really is perfect as is or could be even more pared down. Giving myself permission to take my own advice — be myself and wear what I love and what I feel good in. And of course, to not be afraid to edit down what I own (even if it only means setting things out of sight vs getting rid of them) to allow for even more clarity. I find the best looks come from having constraints. What’s New in the Studio — and What’s Coming SoonThis week we launched our newest partnership item, a collaborative “Mother” baseball cap in forest green that so many of you are loving already. 100% of the profits go to Chamber of Mothers, a nonpartisan nonprofit that unites mothers as advocates for paid family leave, maternal health and affordable childcare in America. We also recently launched some adorable little pouches for organizing cards, headphones, small French Pins, you name it. Available in both Chocolate Suede and Bone Leather. And next month, we have some very exciting things happening —
Recent ReadsI finished two books over the past couple of weeks — Yesteryear and Strangers — and I loved them both so much! Yesteryear is our book club pick for May and I cannot wait to discuss with everyone later this month. Strangers is a memoir, which isn’t my usual genre, but I could not put it down. It’s interesting and thought-provoking and has produced so many great conversations since I finished it. I definitely recommend both books — have you read either of them?! Until next time! xx Natalie P.S. You may also like… |
