Limited, Hard-to-Find Kennedy Half Dollar, Containing 90% Real Silver, Released for Purchase!
If you’re a coin lover, a silver collector, or a JFK buff ...
You’re going to want to jump on this quick ...
The Kennedy Silver Half Dollar was first minted in January 1964 as a memorial to the assassinated President John F. Kennedy. In fact, it is reported that within just hours of Kennedy’s assassination on November 22, 1963, over 60 years ago, Mint Director Eva Adams called Chief Engraver Gilroy Roberts, informing him that serious consideration was being given to depicting Kennedy on one of the larger silver coins: either the silver dollar, half dollar, or quarter.
Adams called Roberts again on November 27 and authorized the project, stating that the late president’s widow, Jacqueline Kennedy preferred that he be shown on the half dollar, replacing Ben Franklin. Kennedy’s reasoning was that she didn’t want to replace George Washington on the quarter. And use of existing works by Gilroy Roberts and Frank Gasparro allowed minting dies to be prepared quickly.
This fast action resulted in the Kennedy Silver Half Dollar being authorized by Congress just over a month after his death.

However, the coins vanished from circulation soon after their release ...
When the Kennedy Silver Half Dollars were released in April of 1964, collectors, hoarders, and those interested in having a memento of the late president grabbed them up fast and kept them, unwilling to part with this piece of history featuring their beloved president!
And although the mint greatly increased production, they still failed to remain in circulation. Then, a rise in the price of silver only increased the hoarding, and caused many of the early Kennedy Half Dollars to be melted for their silver.
So starting in 1965, after just one year of minting, the fine silver content of the Kennedy Half Dollar was reduced from 90% to 40%, where it remained through 1970, in an effort to reduce the hoarding and melting, making 1964 the ONLY circulating Kennedy Half Dollar issue minted in 90% silver! But even this strategy failed to put the coin in mass circulation.

That left the mint with one, final, and drastic move ...
In 1971, a clad alloy was introduced with a copper core sandwiched between outer layers of copper-nickel. These modern Kennedy coins contain NO silver at all.
The Kennedy Half Dollar’s curious history makes this offer very popular!
National Collector’s Mint scoured the market to find as many of these coins as we could. Just so we could offer them to you, and let you own these premium 1964 JFK Half Dollars, which contain 90% real silver.
Because of their historic significance and silver content, these coins have become more difficult to acquire in recent years. But still, these hard-to-find coins are ONLY from that historic 1964 minting, with the 90% silver date -- and in uncirculated condition.
