According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, these “vests” were nothing more than expired armor panels reassembled with duct tape — yes, duct tape — and offered zero ballistic protection. To make matters worse, the group used copied labels from real brands like Point Blank, Safariland, Diamondback Tactical, and others to trick customers into believing they were purchasing legitimate equipment.

The FDLE became aware of this fraud only after a concerned customer called a manufacturer to verify the authenticity of his vest — confirming it was fake. The criminals behind this scheme now face up to 10 years in prison.
